3D Spatial Assessment Toolkit
The Challenge
Traditional assessments are conducted through paper-based tests or digital questionnaires. Increasingly these knowledge assessments can be delivered remotely. However the task of assessing the application of knowledge, skills and behaviours to confirm true competence is generally carried out by an assessor in person, observing the execution of tasks in a workplace setting. This is particularly true when the Assessor needs to see the candidate interacting with materials, tools, processes, technology or spatial environments that are only present in specific locations or buildings.
In many work-based learning situations the assessor will travel to the trainee’s work location to carry out essential end-point assessments. This creates inefficient assessor utilisation, scheduling challenges, unwelcome travelling expenses and carbon emissions.
The inefficiency and cost linked to assessment processes becomes even more acute when the assessor and the trainee are both forced to travel to visit a third party location for assessment purposes. This is commonly the case when assessing workers charged with network infrastructure, construction, civil engineering, building inspection or survey tasks, for example.
In addition to being expensive and challenging for Assessors to access, real-world environments rarely exhibit the full range of challenges and conditions needed to form a fully rounded view of a Candidate’s competence. This is particularly true for roles that involve the Candidate detecting non-conforming or hazardous items in the workplace.
In summary, traditional approaches can be both inefficient and ineffective in specific situations.

Our Solution
Our 3D Spatial Assessment Toolkits transform traditional assessment activity into an interactive, three-dimensional experiences shared by the Assessor and Candidate, either physically co-located using head-mounted displays or working remotely via MS Teams.
Utilising the latest in spatial computing, we provide synthetic 3D built environments into which a challenging range of realistic non-conforming and conforming items are embedded. In combination, these items create scenarios that form a fully rounded and comprehensive test of Candidate competence.
Since these scenarios are capable of being consistently presented, evidence-based baselines for unacceptable, acceptable, and outstanding performance can be quickly established through benchmarking activities undertaken by suitably qualified experienced personnel.
Moreover, to preserve assessment integrity, a range of assessment scenarios that incorporate different non-conforming items can be presented. In combination the non-conforming items present an equivalent standard of difficulty, but exhibited in different ways, locations and conditions.
By adopting our innovative assessment techniques, organisations can significantly reduce assessment costs, minimise their carbon footprint and provide a more engaging and effective assessment process that better prepares individuals for their future role.
